I’m shocked. Author goes to event unmasked, comes home with “a cold”.

Fucktober 14

Oct 15th 2023

Today I got out as quickly as I could & pretty sure I didn’t do yoga or lights but according to my first photo of the day it was around 12:15.

Oh. Dishes & putting away of yesterdays soup: read potato, white sweet potato, onions, chard, bok choy, tomatoes, eggplant, veggie stock, container of mystery soup from the freezer as the stone.

Walked to the cemetery. Spent a lot of time getting close to this guy. Got to watch him catch a fish & eat it.

Oh darn I have to go back & document the metamorphosis. Gee whiz.

Said hi to this lady

Took a shower. Edited. Tried to edit. Posted in all the old familiar places.

Finished Starter Villain by John Scalzi. Good book. Especially the first half.

Got told I don’t gotta file IRS anymore

I really need to finish putting this place together. Spoons are necessary for that. And someone with a good eye & a stepladder.

Dear Tumblr. It’s bad enough that you keep suggesting I follow accounts, but inserting posts from people I never heard of into my timeline is a violation of my boundaries.

What HAPPENED to this place?

TodayvI

Did no hands yoga. I think the foam pad I’ve been using as a yoga mat is too thick & soft so my wrists are bending the wrong way.

Did 13 minute meditation with binaural beats & therapy lamp. I do not like meditating with my eyes open.

Forced myself to try to find little free libraries. Got to two, then got stuck in traffic for events several times, came back here, made soup.

Pretty much given up unpacking/ making this place nice. Pretty sure some of this is the angst of the war on top of the loss of the only reason I applied to live in this dump.

Did I mention the carbon monoxide alarm went off at 7:30 yesterday morning? Nothing like SIRENS BARKING PUPPIES & 40 OLD PEOPLE YELLING AT ONCE to make you go back to bed all day and read a book.

And then see the author of that book running around NY ComicCon without a mask. Javitz Center is full to the ceiling with unmasked nerds.

I don’t know why I have to watch the apocalypse. Maybe I should take my mask off but then I will infect people because apartment building.

I am so done.

Ok so at this point I've had two people roll up to me in manual wheelchairs, well, one of them was somebody pushing somebody who was nonverbal at the time, but it still counts. They asked me why I had zip ties around my tires.

It's winter where I'm living and we have really bad snow. And the snow plow people are really bad at their jobs probably because there aren't snow plow people who clean sidewalks. As a solution I got to thinking about how I could increase the traction on my wheels. And the most redneck thing I could think of was taking a bunch of zip ties and tying them around my wheels. They last surprisingly long, and work surprisingly well. It's basically the same premise as chains for your tires during the winter.

I chose to space them out pretty evenly so there's about one for every spoke. You could probably do more or less depending on how many you want and how much traction you get but I wouldn't go more than three per spoke. I realize that it's a bit later in the winter, and I probably should have made a post about this sooner, but I came up with it about a week ago. So please share this, even if you're not disabled, because there are tons of people I know who are stuck in their houses because they can't get around in the snow. A pack of zip ties costs about $5, which compared to $200 knobby snow tires is a big save, and if you want to invest you could get colored zip ties.

Sharing for accessibility

Oh fuck yes. Thank you all the abled people between op and me this is exactly what I needed to see 💜

ooh sweet, thanks for the tip

(for anyone using their chair both indoors and outside, highly recommend wheelchair 'slippers'/wheel socks like these so you don't tear up wood/vinyl/linoleum flooring with the zip ties!)

! This is fucking amazing and I love it!!!

At 7:30 this morning the Carbon Monoxide alarm went iff so a whole building full of old people had to go out in the courtyard and all yell at once for half an hour till this fire department came & turned it off.

Somebody got into the building & was smoking in the elevator.

Of course my paranoia says it was the same person who calls me from the front door at 7AM. I have that number silenced from 9PM till 8:30 AM now.

Who has keys to the building? The mailman, the UPS driver & the FedEx driver. Who hates me? The mailman.

Interesting epitaphs.

The bottom is somewhat ironic as the stone is Serpentine, seems not quite a Catholic as the rosary indicates.

Today I didn’t do yoga

Went to TJs

Did 12 minutes with lamp

Resolved an issue with Sonoma HHS.

Called in a weed delivery. Got a 2fer.

Forgot to post this. I don’t remember what else I did yesterday.

Today I woke up right before the landscapers came through to cut back the hillside foliage. My pampas grass is gone.

Went to the cemetery. Saw stuff. Will post tomorrow.

Came back to find Honey Green died this morning. Not a surprise. But still sad. And I got this place because of her.

Got tired of explaining that Jews are not Israeli and that the Israeli govt sucks and no it’s not my religion it’s my ethnicity.

Sorted & put away more stuff & wondering why I’m not just packing it all up again. There’s a lot less stuff to move at lease.

It rained this evening & the Weather Channel didn’t notice.

image

And it’s Orbweaver season.

Oh yeah , it’s the 47th anniversary of seeing the Deas & the Who.
